House of Flags Museum Logo Contest

The House of Flags Museum, Inc. has announced its plans to conduct a region-wide contest to select a logo. The contest, which kicked off on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 , will solicit ideas and graphics from anyone interested in participating. The purpose of the contest is to select a logo that will help promote The House of Flags Museum throughout Western North Carolina and beyond. Entrants must submit their proposed logos before midnight October 30, 2008.

The House of Flags Museum, Inc is a 501(C)3 nonprofit, educational organization and is temporarily located in the Green Creek community of Polk County, North Carolina. The museum has a collection of over 300 flags including all twenty-seven full-size, official U.S. flags dating from 1776 to 1960. It is the only museum of its type in the nation. The museum is currently conducting a fund- raising campaign to modernize through the renovation of a historic building in downtown Columbus, the county seat. The museum's mission is to promote patriotism, instill an understanding of the evolution and history of our nation's flag and to teach proper flag etiquette.

The winner of the contest will receive a cash award of $250.00 provided by a friend of the museum, Burrell's Fuels, Inc./ Diamond B Energies of Tryon, NC., and a nylon, 3X5 foot flag of the United States of America.
