Anderson County Sheriff's investigators say they have new information on the third anniversary of an unsolved murder.
Pete Wells was shot and killed on October 13, 2005 as he was leaving Bamboo Gardens restaurant on Highway 28 Bypass. His wife, Denise Wells, says he was walking back to the car after picking up the food. She watched as a man attacked her husband, and he fought back.
"He was the type of person he'd give you the shirt off his back but you ain't gonna take from him," Wells said.
The attacker shot twice, took off and Pete Wells died next to his wife of twenty years.
Monday, The Anderson County Sheriff's Office released two new pieces of evidence from the scene, which they believe were left by a suspect. They are a broken sterling silver necklace with a Jesus charm and an all black Atlanta braves cap.
Wells said she hopes the information leads to a suspect. She said the past three years have been "hell."
"It's very frustrating. We have no answers and no leads and I'm ready for him to get caught so he can't do to another family what he's done to mine," said Wells.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office would not say why investigators waited until now to release the evidence.
Wells says she's not entirely happy with how this case has been handled but does hope someone will come forward with information.
If you have any information, call Anderson Crime Stoppers at (864) 231-STOP.
A $40,000 reward is offered.
