UNDATED (AP) - A new Quinnipiac University poll makes it pretty clear why John McCain has more or less given up in Michigan.
A month ago McCain trailed Barack Obama by only 4 points, 48-to-44, in Michigan. Now it's nowhere near that close. The latest numbers from Michigan show Obama up 54 percent to 38 percent and poised to keep the 17 electoral votes John Kerry won in 2004.
And since the two began debating head-to-head, Obama's lead has grown substantially bigger in Wisconsin too.
Heading into the first debate Obama was up 51-to-43 percent in Wisconsin. Going into tomorrow's final debate, Obama has expanded his lead to 17 points, 54-to-37 percent. Obama also has a large lead among Wisconsin's independents.
