COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The House plans to quietly give final approval to $488 million in budget cuts mostly in health care and education and send the bill to the Senate.
House members are expected to approve an automatic third reading Wednesday on cuts to the state's $7 billion budget. They were told they didn't need to be at their desks. The Senate is giving the bill a routine first reading Wednesday as well.
The Senate plans to give the bill a second reading on Thursday. That could put the bill on Gov. Mark Sanford's desk for vetoes by Friday afternoon.
