A second person has died from injuries received in a head-on crash in Cherokee County.
The Cherokee County Coroner says Corine Brown Tarver, 92, of Gaffney died Wednesday morning following the four-vehicle crash on Cherokee Creek Road at SC 11.
Ernest Burr, Junior, 56 of Gaffney died on the way to Upstate Carolina Medical Center following the accident from multiple injuries after the crash around 5:10pm Tuesday.
Coroner Dennis Fowler says Burr was driving a 1996 Honda Accord north on Highway 11 and drove left of the center line. Burr's Honda struck one vehicle before hitting the Buick Tarver was driving in the opposite direction almost head on, three miles south of Gaffney.
Autopsies have been ordered to assist with the investigation according to Fowler. The latest traffic deaths raise Cherokee County’s yearly total to 16. Four of those deaths have been recorded in the past ten days.
The conditions of the two other victims have not been released.
