Simpsonville police need help finding two men they claim are likely responsible for two store robberies. It's a crime Upstate law enforcement says is on the rise with the rough economy.
The first happened on Friday at Aaron's rental store on South Street in Simpsonville. Two men struck again early Wednesday morning at Radio Shack off Fairview Road.
Police say those responsible for the robberies didn't have much of a plan. The men used the front end of their vehicle to break the glass door of the Radio Shack.
Surveillance video inside the store shows the men hitting the front door with their vehicle, two men then run inside, knock over the counter and run away with a computer and remote control cars.
Video also caught two men at Aaron's committing a similar crime. In the video, you can see the men use a rock to break the front glass door. In 40 seconds, they run in and then run out with three flat screen televisions.
Simpsonville Police Lt. Ralph Bobo thinks the two robberies were done by the same people, "We think these are connected because of the mode of entry to the business, hitting the glass front door...and the physical description of the two suspects.
Greenville County Sheriff's office says it has also seen an increase in robberies. On Monday, three convenience stores were robbed, and deputies arrested someone for an armed robbery.
