Our sister station, News 13, in the Pee Dee and Grand Strands said that Hanna was in the process of making landfall at 2:19 a.m. Saturday morning at North Myrtle Beach.

Authorities say heavy rain and a storm surge of two feet have closed U.S. 17 near downtown Georgetown. The area frequently floods.

Flooding was also reported in North Myrtle Beach, where more than three inches of rain fell Friday.

Winds were gusting to near 50 mph, especially near the North Carolina state line.

Several smaller roads throughout Georgetown and Horry counties have also flooded and a few trees have been reported down.

The storm was pushing the ocean up to the dunes in Myrtle Beach about an hour from high tide.

Forecasters say the worst of the weather should come early Saturday morning.

The area is under a voluntary evacuation and many tourists did not leave.
