Man Pulls Neighbor Out of Fire in Roebuck

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Firefighters are calling an upstate man a hero after he pulled his neighbor out of his burning apartment.

It happened around 7:30 on Saturday night in Peake Road in Roebuck.

Rickie Long said he thought his cell phone was beeping and when he realized it wasn't, he looked outside and saw smoke billowing from his neighbor's bedroom. Long said, he ran up the stairs and knocked down his neighbor's front door. He said, "We heard the beeper going off, and come outside and it was smoking. So we had to run up the steps and busted the door in. That guy was passed out in the bed...smoke was everywhere."

Firefighters said the fire was contained to the bed. The victim is being treated at the hospital for smoke inhalation. There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
