The Haunted Forest presents a revamped
‘Trail of Fear’!

For over 20 years the Haunted Forest has been scaring those who have dared walk through the dark woods in Pauline, but this year, with a new partner on board, the forest has taken ‘scaring people’ to a new, more twisted level. Matt Kellner, born and raised in Spartanburg, has joined forces with Teresa Johnson and is kicking it up a notch this year presenting ‘The Trail of Fear’. The trail is approximately 30 minutes long and contains 17 horrifying scenes with many unexpected elements of surprise. ‘The scenes are designed to test your tolerance for your deepest fears.’, says Kellner, ‘We are trying to use real fears combined with horrifying nightmares to make us unlike anyone else’.
The Haunted Forest’s opening night will be October 2 and tickets will be only $5.00, making it a great night to test your fears early in the season. By the time Halloween rolls around, you might be ready to try to make it through again! Pricing is normally $10 per adult and $8 for kids under the age of ten. The forest will be opened for operation October 2- 4, 10-11, 17-18, and 24-Halloween.
So, if you are bored with the same chainsaw chasing and monster mask routine, this is the trail for you. Kellner and Johnson have pulled out all the stops and are holding nothing back this year. They are out to test the fears of everyone who enters. There will be some chainsaws, there will be monsters, and there will even be flashy strobe lights, but you can’t even imagine what these sick minds have cooked up because there is a surprise around every corner. This trail is set apart from any other because no if, ands, or buts about it….you’re gonna scream!!

The Haunted Forest
For over 20 years, The Haunted Forest has been a popular attraction around Halloween time in Spartanburg. It is not only the oldest and spookiest trail in Spartanburg, but more committed to having a different edge than any other. It was established by Teresa Johnson in 1987 after her annual ‘haunted house’ Halloween parties drew such a large crowd! She then purchased a piece of property in Pauline, SC called Pettit’s Point, for its shape of a sharp edged butchers knife. The outdoor concept was one of the first unique spins that the Forest had as it was the first outdoor Haunted facility in Spartanburg.

Matt Kellner
Matt Kellner, 28, was born in Spartanburg and attended Westgate Christian School, Dawkins Middle School, and Dorman High School. Kellner played both football and baseball for Dorman, but it was baseball that took him to Newberry College. Matt played baseball for Newberry until he graduated. He returned to the Spartanburg area and became a partner in opening People’s Choice Insurance which is now Quest Insurance. Kellner has also started a kitchen and bathroom remodeling business in the area.
