Greenville Police are investigating a grand larceny case at the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research. Police say 31 pieces of precious metal - valued at $15,000 by the victim - was stolen from the ICAR site.
A police report says the theft happened on September 22 between 4:30pm in the afternoon and 9:00am the following morning. The 31 pieces of metal ranged in weight from 24 pounds to as much as 720 pounds.
The metal was taken from a pallet and the victim believes some equipment at the job site was likely used in the crime because of the weight of the stolen items.
The items taken were shaped beams and other beams from the location at 2 Innovation Drive.
