Pregnant Mother Charged With Cruelty To Children

A Union woman is charged with cruelty to children after a teacher found bruises on her 7-year-old child. The Department of Social Services called Union Public Safety and said the child had bruises on the back, legs, arms and neck. Police say 31-year-old Heather Hurt grabbed the child by the neck, pushed the child face-first into a bed and hit the child several times with a belt.

Officers arrested Hurt. Police say her three children have been placed with a relative.
