It took 40 firefighters and numerous engine companies to help contain a fire that consumed a log cabin late Friday night.

According to officials with the Holly Springs Fire Department in Lyman, they responded to a residential fire around 11:30 pm Friday night at 130 DeYoung Road. Once on scene, the firemen noticed the log cabin fully involved and thought that people may have been inside. However, after several anxious minutes, fire department officials learned that the family was out of town when the fire started and nobody was inside.

The fire destroyed the home and caused a small one acre brush fire that was quickly contained. One fire official tells News Channel 7 that the flames could be seen from four miles away.
