A 17-year old-Blacksburg youth died in a single vehicle collision in Cherokee County Sunday. Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler indentified the victim as Sara Jan Mullinax of 578 Old Buffalo Church Road. Fowler said Miss Mullinax was a front seat passenger in a 1996 Mercury that was headed west on Brick House Road at 4:25 p.m and being driven by her sister, 24-year-old Angela Beth White of 736 Brick House Road. Fowler said Mrs. White lost control of the vehicle in a curve, crossed the center line, overcorrected and overturned. Mullinax was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected on impact according to Fowler. Fowler, who pronounced Mullinax dead at the scene has ordered an autopsy to assist with his investigation of the collision which is continuing. Mullinax becomes Cherokee County’s 2nd traffic fatality of 2009.
