The Piedmont Blood Center in Spartanburg is experiencing a severe shortage on all blood types and is asking for the public's help.
The center - located at 175 Dunbar Street in Spartanburg - says this shortage is due to increased usage by local hospitals, company layoffs, cancellations of blood drives and other circumstances beyond their control.
The center is extending their Tuesday hours until 6:00pm.
The Piedmont Blood Center is normally open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:00pm. The closing time on Thursdays is extended until 7:00pm. The Saturday hours are from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Piedmont Blood Center is an independent community blood center that supplies the blood and blood products for Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties.
