Hitman Email Hoax Threatens Lives

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A scary new email is making its way across the Upstate threatening the lives of recipients.

Upstate law enforcement agencies have seen the death threat reports coming in. The emails are coming from a man claiming to be a hitman hired to kill the person who receives the email along with their family.

The hitman says they're being watched and will be dead in 10 days unless they pay up to call the hit off.

Computer experts say it's all just a scary hoax using fear as a weapon.

"The goal of a spammer is to play on your emotions. What does that better than picking on your family and the people you care about? Or, your own life?" Brady Gilbert, of Call Brady Computer Services, says.

There are things you can look for to figure out if what you're reading could be legitimate.
