In a two-hour time span Friday night, an unknown white male committed two strong arm robberies at two local businesses. The first occurred at the Bi-Lo, 330 Lebby Street, Pelzer, at around 8:40 p.m. In the first incident, Doris Harper, 72, of Williamston, was walking through the parking lot when the male drove slowly by her, grabbed her purse and sped away. Harper was dragged a short distance before the purse came free from her arm. She was transported to Greenville Memorial Hospital where she was admitted. The extent of her injury is unknown.

The second occurrence took place at the Pilot truck stop, 110 Frontage Road, in Piedmont at 10:40 p.m. There, Lilouti Perez, 45, of Browns, New York, was approached by a male who grabbed he by the neck and stole her purse. Perez sustained no injuries.

In both incidents, the lone male is described as being white, having dirty-blonde hair, a slender build, and tattoos on his arm. He was driving a mid to late-80’s medium blue Chevrolet Camaro or Pontiac Firebird-type vehicle with rust spots on the hood. The car tag was obscured by red cloth.

Carrie Coal said she heard tires squeal and then saw a man in a blue car grab at Doris Harper. "I said oh my God then I saw a lady when she fell on the ground," she said.

Doris Harper is in serious condition at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Any information on the suspect or his vehicle should be relayed to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 260-4400 or Crimestoppers at 231-(STOP) 7867
