Troopers: Spartanburg DUI Accident Closes U.S. 29 for Six Hours

Justin H. Easler has been charged with felony DUI involving great bodily injury.

A man has been charged with driving under the influence after an early morning accident that closed Highway 29 for more than six hours.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol says Marquis Terrell Smith was pulling out of the Ingles parking lot when struck by another vehicle driven by Justin Easler driving south on Highway 29.

The accident happened right in front of the Ingles supermarket location.

Smith and his passenger were both wearing seatbelts, were injured and transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Justin H. Easler, 23, of Chesnee was not injured and has been charged with felony driving under the influence involving great bodily injury.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported Highway 29 was back open to traffic by 8:15am.
