Coroner confirms presciption drugs found in Julia Vess's system. Vess's body was discovered in a wooded area in Spartanburg County May 31, 2009. After an autopsy, there were no obvious signs of foul play, according to Coroner Rusty Clevenger. Because of extensive decomposition, the coroner was unable to make a scientific ruling on Vess's cause of death. Toxicology studies found only prescription drugs in her system, but those levesl will not be reported because it is an active investigation.
The 48-year-old mother vanished from her Simpsonville home May 17, 2009.
