Tax Free Weekend Is Here And So Are The Sales

The aisles will be packed with shoppers trying to take advantage of the sales tax free weekend. They'll be loading up on pens, paper, clothes and shoes.
One shopper says, "Either I have to go very early in the morning or very late at night on tax free weekend." For Sylvia Landrum the madness just isn't worth it for those back to school items like book bags. She says, "Last year I saved I think it was seven dollars and some change so it wasn't worth it for me because I was in line maybe 20 minutes." However, others say with the economy in the dumps the tax free weekend is more important than ever. According to Erica Turner, "School clothes for her for preschool, lunchbox and hopefully my husband is going to get a new little notebook laptop." At Target they say they'll have all hands on deck to handle the crowds looking to save money. Cheryl Clayton at Target says, "Especially college. Back to college. That seems to be the main focus on tax free weekend just because of the amount of spending that parents have to do." There are hundreds of items on the list you can get on tax free weekend and some you may not have thought of like bridal gowns corsets, even bathing suits. Many of the items on the tax free list are on sale as well making the savings even deeper at time when every penny counts.
South Carolina's tax free weekend starts at 12:01am Friday morning and ends at 12 midnight on Sunday. Tax free items include clothing, accessories, handbags and footwear. Also, school supplies, computers, printers and some bath and bedding. Click here to get the full list. For a list of approved items in North Carolina click here.
