A months long investigation resulted in the arrests of 18 people, after deputies discovered an illegal gambling house.
Agents with the Pickens County Sheriff's Office and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office had been conducting an investigation for serveral months. As part of this investigation, agents executed a search warrant at a home on Five Forks Road, in Liberty on Sunday.
Agents seized several large gaming tables, multiple sets of poker chips, playing cards, and other gambling related items. In addition, agents seized money, several firearms, a video surveillance system, a quantity of marijuana (less than 28 grams), and a small amount of (Vicodine) a schedule III controlled substance.
Eighteen people were taken into custody and transported to the Pickens County Detention Center where 16 were charged with Gambling, two were charged with Operating a Gambling House, and one was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance. Pickens County Magistrates released the suspects on personal recognizance bond on the same day.
