Crews cleaning raw sewage spill in Rocky Creek near Riley Smith Road in Greenville County. Officials are asking nearby residents to avoid the creek area. Residents are also asked to keep their pets away from the area. A third-party contractor crushed and damaged a gravity line Thursday, according to Renewable Water Resources. The spill was confirmed when a manhole started to overflow. Renewable Water Resources notified S.C. Deparment of Health and Environmental Control, and is now diverting as much flow as possible to prevent further spillage. No word yet on how many gallons of sewage was spilled.
No residential homes have been impacted, and there is no risk of public contact, according to Renewable Water Resources.
