The Highway Patrol has cited a school bus driver for failing to yield in an accident involving a McCarthy Tezsler bus Friday morning in Boiling Springs. The other driver suffered minor injuries, but no children were injured.
Krystal Jefferson, 24, of Spartanburg was charged by troopers according to Corporal Kathy Hiles of the SCHP after the accident on Hanging Rock Road at Seay Road just before 7:30am Friday.
Jefferson was attempting to make a left turn onto Hanging Rock Road when she hit a 2005 Mazda being driven by Stephanie Peace, 32, of Spartanburg who was traveling north on Hanging Rock Road.
Hiles says the school bus didn't yield to the car. Jefferson has no previous violations on her record according to Spartanburg School District 7. Disciplinary actions, if needed, would be determined after the district completes the investigation.
Peace was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center with minor injuries according to Hiles. A parent decided to take one student to the hospital as a precautionary measure later according to Spartanburg School District 7.
