SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina police say a 12-year-old boy who died after being found on a front porch with a gunshot wound likely shot himself.
The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported Tuesday that the Spartanburg Public Safety Department thinks the weekend shooting of Antwun Garrett Jr. was probably an accident. Police think the boy
could have shot himself while mishandling a gun.
Officers found Garrett on Friday breathing heavily on a porch with a gunshot wound to the face. He was pronounced dead at a Spartanburg hospital early Saturday.
A gun was not found at the scene. Investigators are trying to determine how Garrett got access to a gun.
