**Thursday 3:05pm Update**
The Laurens Police department has arrested 24-year old Travis Lenard Toland, of Laurens, and charged him with murder in the shooting death of Johnny Lee Burnside.
A police report says that when law enforcement arrived at the residence, Toland stepped off the front porch and admitted to the officer that he had shot Burnside in self defense. Toland allegedly told officers that the gun was in the back of a car in the driveway and Toland's father told police he saw the entire incident.
**Thursday 10:05am Update**
The Laurens County County Coroner says Johnny Lee Burnside, 43, of 405 Sunset Park in Laurens was killed by a single gunshot wound to the chest at 7:19pm Wednesday.
Laurens Police are investigating a shooting that happened Wednesday evening. The shooting happened around 8pm at 203 Sunset Park in the city. According to Chief Robin Morse, two men got into an argument at a home on Sunset Park, and one pulled a gun and shot the other, killing him. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
The chief tells News Channel 7 that investigators are in the early stages of the investigation, and hope to have more details Thursday.
