RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina film boosters say a bill
signed into law by Gov. Beverly Perdue should help the state get
more lights, cameras and action for movie and television deals.
Perdue held a ceremony Thursday to sign a bill to increase the
tax credit film and television production companies can receive if
they work in North Carolina.
State film boosters say the larger credit is needed so North
Carolina can compete better with surrounding states. Perdue
recalled how North Carolina lost a Miley Cyrus movie to Georgia
earlier this year because that state offered a better incentives
package.
EUE/Screen Gems co-owner Bill Cooney in Wilmington says the
larger credit will attract more production companies to use its
sound stage and film in North Carolina cities.
