Two drivers, who both say they had the green light, collided on Highway 123 sending an SUV into a pawn shop early Thursday morning.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol says the accident happened around 1:00am at the intersection of Highway 123 and West Washington.
A 38-year old Travelers Rest woman was driving a 2003 GMC SUV north on Highway 123 when she collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Van being driven by a 37-year old man from Greenville. The van was heading west on Washington.
The vehicles collided, sending the SUV into Dollar Man Loan Company, while the van came to a stop in the intersection.
Both drivers told troopers they had green light clearance to enter the intersection. Corporal Kathy Hiles of the SCHP says there were no witnesses to the accident, so troopers couldn't determine which driver would have been at fault.
No charges will be filed by the Highway Patrol. We were told both drivers were taken to a hospital for treatment.
For the owner of the "Dollar Man Loan Company", Gene Davidson, this is the second time a vehicle has crashed into his pawn shop. The first was a couple of years ago when a vehicle hit the side of the building.
"People need to pay close attention at intersections and pay very good attention to red lights and whether their light is red or green," says Davidson.
