A major drug trafficking ring was busted up this morning by the DEA in the Upstate, according to US Attorney Walt Wilkins.
Agents raided a home on Blackberry Valley Drive in Greenville County, and found what they were looking for.
Agents and a SWAT team swarmed the house, using flash bombs to break out windows and distract those inside. Neighbors say it sounded like gunfire and the entire street was lined with law enforcement.
Nine people in the home were arrested. Agents found around 130 pounds of marijuana, $10,000 cash and three weapons inside the house. Wilkins says the home was part of a suspected trafficking ring from Mexico to Texas, then up here to the Carolinas, funneling thousands of pounds of pot to our area.
The nine people arrested were all detained and will have a hearing on Wednesday.
