NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - When Boeing announced it would build a $750 million aircraft assembly plant in South Carolina, officials said the project would mean 2,000 construction jobs.
Subcontractors who will get some of those jobs learn Tuesday just what will be needed to build the plant as the main contractor holds information sessions in North Charleston.
BE&K/Turner, which has a design-build contract for the 787 aircraft plant, says it wants to make sure small, local and diverse suppliers are used on the job.
During the sessions the contractor provides details of the project, discusses purchasing procedures and tells subcontractors how to get a qualification package.
