The Henderson County Sheriff's Office says three people have been arrested involving a fraudulent request of toys from Toys For Tots in Henderson County. The Sheriff's Office says the request was an attempt to scam the community and Toys for tots for toys valued more than $ 1,750.00.
Investigators say they were alerted by the Henderson county Department of Public Health of a possible fraudulent request to provide toys for 166 needy children.
A release from the Henderson County Sheriff's Office states authorities for Toys for Tots also contacted investigators immediately after being alerted to a possible scam.
Investigators conducted multiple interviews and worked with the Henderson County Department of Public Health and Toys For Tots of Henderson County and the office says it subsequently determined that the request was misrepresented.
Investigators say around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday two vehicles arrived at Toys For Tots in the Wal-Mart shopping center of Hendersonville. Toys were loaded into the vehicles by undercover officers and, the toys were signed for and accepted by an individual who represented themself as being with the Henderson County Department of Public Health.
Investigators arrested the following individuals in the scam:
1) Monica Renea White, 27 years of age of Hawk Meadow Drive in Edneyville
