The Laurens County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fire at a home where a man allegedly killed his wife and step-son two weeks ago.
The fire broke out early Sunday morning at a residence on Allen Bridge Road in Fountain Inn. When firefighters arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in fire and the home was totally destroyed.
The house was the site of what authorities say was a double murder just two weekends ago.
Laurens County Sheriff's investigators say that 32-year old Gentry Chapman shot and killed his wife, 31-year old Amanda Chapman, and step-son, 17-year old Ashton Arnold on Ovember 29. Authorities say Chapman called 911 and reported to authorities that he had shot his wife and step-son and was turning himself in to the Fountain Inn Police department. The bodies of Chapman and Arnold were found inside the home and Chapman is claiming he shot them in self-defense.
Laurens County Sheriff Ricky Chastain says that the nature of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the location is "suspicious" in nature and they have not determined a cause or origin of the fire. Chastain says arson has not been ruled out.
