»  Comments | Post a Comment

On Sunday December 13, 2009 the Greenville County Sheriff's Office responded to an armed robbery that occurred at the night deposit window of the Wachovia Bank, located at 2616 Wade Hampton Blvd.

The robbery occurred as the victim drove up to the night deposit box to place offering funds from Mt Calvary Church on Cedar Lane Road in Greenville.

Deputies were told by the victim that he began to place the money inside the bank's deposit box when the suspect approached him.

The suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded that he give up the money.

After taking the money from the victim the suspect ran in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described is a man, 25 to 30 years of age, 5'10", approximately 250lbs, wearing a dark mask, a gray military style jacket, with a black handgun.

The church says most were checks which are worthless to the robber and the small amount of cash taken is insured.

The Sheriff's Office Armed Robbery Unit is assigned to this case and currently is gathering additional information.

Video Surveillance of the robbery is also being sought to assist in the investigation.

Anyone having information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME
