The U.S. Postal Service expects December 14 to be the busiest day of the year with more than 830 million cards, letters and packages going out Monday.
That would be a 42 percent increase over the 583 million pieces during a typical day of mail service.
Wednesday, December 16 is expected to be the busiest delivery day of the year.
The USPS expects more than 97 million customers will visit a post office during the holidays, while another 41 million people will use online services to print postage and mail their items from home.
The Postal Service expects to deliver more than three billion cards and letters over the holidays.
