I've eaten my fair share of chocolate and I have to say that CocoBon shines through. When you eat a Cocobon confection you're buying a myriad of South Carolina products in one bite. From Young Plantation for pecans to Happy Berry for blueberries to Split Creek Farms for goat cheese, CocoBon scours the state for local ingredients to pair with their chocolate. They really earn their Certified SC seal from the Dept of Ag!
Visit CocoBon's kiosk right in the smack middle of the Anderson Mall (you might meet David's cute son) or head to their website. I really love their chocolate bark. The Blueberry Walnut is crazy delish. The secret is David infuses handmade blueberry syrup into the chocolate and then adds dried blueberries and walnuts (all local). And, as we showed on tv, the white and dark chocolate with sea salt and 2 types of pepper is a really show stopper. I bought bags of bark to give as my hostess gifts this year and they've been a big hit.
I really love to put out chocolate for dessert for a party. Get a platter and place small and big pieces of 2 different types of bark on it. Mix in 8-10 truffles for a nice round shape on the plate. Add small piles of fresh raspberries. In one corner, break open a pomegranate into 3 or 4 pieces exposing the brilliant red berries. Dust the entire platter lightly with powdered sugar with a sifter. Beautiful and affordable! You're spend less than a bakery dessert.
