Sen. Lindsey Graham met with Spartanburg business owners to discuss the current state of the economy Monday.
But despite the problems presented to him, the senator believes the solution is not the current stimulus package.
He says it's just too much money going to too many pet programs.
The key, he says, is to first focus on the housing market.
He also wants to see an 18-month period to allow people to negotiate mortgage to four percent.
"If we get it right in the next six months I think we will begin to recover by 2010," Graham said.
