More than 20 firefighters responding to the scene of a massive house fire at the Carolina Country Club Tuesday.
The home is at 236 Indian Wells Drive.
The fire started when the couple inside was trying to jump start a car, and the battery sparked, according to fire officials. The flames got out of control quickly, engulfing the entire house. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely.
The home belongs to Coleman L. Young, Jr.
According to Forbes magazine, he has been the president of CLY, Inc., a dry cleaning business located in Spartanburg. Mr. Young also serves as property manager for Coleman Young Family Limited Partnership, a real estate development company and is chairman of Upward Unlimited, a non-profit ministry headquartered in Spartanburg.
A witness Mark West, says he saw the fire just after it started and the homeowner running down the driveway screaming for fire a extinguisher.
Firefighters are warning homeowners against jump starting cars in the garage, to avoid a similar tragedy.
