The Coca-Cola Company is joining forces with an Upstate company to create the world's largest bottle to bottle plastic recycling facility.
It is about to open in Spartanburg and nearly one hundred new jobs are coming with it.
The new thirty acre facility is located at 5396 North Blackstock Road and will produce roughly 100 million pounds of plastic for reuse.
The expanded facility is run by United Resource Recovery Corporation of Spartanburg.
They will recycle about five million bottles made of PET plastic for reuse when the plant is at full operation.
According to the company, recycling that many bottles will help the environment by reducing carbon monoxide emissions and saving energy.
In ten years it will be the equivalent of taking two hundred and fifteen thousand cars off the road.
The official opening is January 14th.
The recycled plastic will be used for bottles as well as fibers for clothing and carpet.
The company plans to hire about one hundred people over the next few years.
According to a company spokeswoman, if you are interested in a job with URRC, you should call them at 864-574-0904 to find out about what jobs are available and when.
