One finger is making things easier at some South Carolina schools.
The new system scans a student's fingerprint and instantly knows if they are able to check out library books. If they are ready, the system chimes an upbeat series of notes. If books are late, it will say "uh oh," or "yikes."
Parents must give permission for the students' fingers to be scanned.
Pine Grove Elementary in Richland District One School District is the pilot for the program, and they hope the cafeteria will have the technology by the end of the year. The school believes it will make lines shorter and faster.
