QUINCY, Fla. (AP) - An Indiana investment manager who was beset with legal and financial problems is in fair condition at a Florida hospital today after being found with a slashed wrist.
Authorities say Marcus Schrenker staged a plane crash in an apparent attempt to fake his own death and sped off on a stashed motorcycle after bailing out of the plane over Alabama. He was
found at a northern Florida campsite yesterday and an investigator says he was barely conscious.
Frank Chiumento, an assistant chief with the U.S. Marshals in Florida, tells ABC's "Good Morning America" the suspect muttered the word "die" when he was found bleeding from a seriously
slashed wrist and other wounds.
Schrenker was facing divorce, a state investigation of his businesses and angry investors who accuse him of stealing as much as millions of dollars in savings they entrusted to him.
