Edith Childs has found her way to the history books.
Her “Fired-up and Ready-to-Go” cheer became a staple Barack Obama’s stump speeches after a visit to Greenwood, SC.
As she recalls the past and how she used to sneak sips from the ‘whites-only’ fountain as a child, she reminds us the cheer was a battle cry during the Civil Rights moments.
She says she knew the day would come when an African-American became president.
On Monday morning Childs boarded a bus in Greenwood en route to Washington, D.C. "Just knowing that you lived to see this day happen, it's just an awesome experience," says Childs.
