Our four-legged friends in need in Anderson got some help from near and far. Pet food and blanket donations arrived at the Anderson airport on Saturday. Some of the donations came in from as far away as New Hampshire. It's all thanks to help from the Anderson County Animal Shelter and a national pet rescue organization called Animal Rescue Flights.
The shelter manager says she's relived the puppies will have the food they need.
"We don't have to worry about what we're going to feed next week...if we are going to have puppies eating weight maintenance," said Michelle Dodd. "It's going to be nice to be able to feed them what they need which is puppy food."
Dodd says the economy has left them with twice the amount of puppies than in previous years. The good news is many puppies went home with new owners on Saturday.
