Pickens Man Wins $100,000 in Lottery

»  Comments | Post a Comment

COLUMBIA, SC (July 1, 2009) – “I feel lucky!” That’s the reaction Lee Haynes had when he won $100,000 instantly playing the Harley-Davidson® ticket from the South Carolina Education Lottery. The Pickens resident bought his winning ticket at The Spinx Company Inc. #443 located at 1402 East Main Street in Easley.
What does Haynes plan to buy with his winnings? Perhaps a shiny, chromed-out, Harley-Davidson® motorcycle is in his future? “I think I’ll buy a boat,” he said.
The retailer who sells a claimed ticket worth more than $10,000 receives a one percent selling bonus capped at $50,000. The Spinx Company Inc. #443 received a $1,000 selling bonus.
Since the Lottery’s inception in 2002, the General Assembly has appropriated more than $2 billion for educational purposes through fiscal year 2009. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2008, more than 97 cents of every dollar spent by players on the South Carolina Education Lottery was returned to the state in the form of contributions to education, prizes, retailer commissions and payment to contractors for goods and services.
