A man found Saturday night in Gaffney died of natural causes, according to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler. The man has been identified as 53 year old James Thomas McGaha of North Limestone Street.
“A passerby spotted Mr. McGaha lying partially on the sidewalk near the intersection of East Robinson and North Petty Streets about 12:20 a.m. and called 9-1-1,” Fowler said in a press release.
An autopsy was performed this morning in Newberry in order to assist with my investigation and to rule out any foul play. Fowler stressed, “Mr.McGaha’s death is not connected to the five homicides that have occurred over the past 7 days in Cherokee County."
