Law officers surrounded a home in Greenville County early Monday morning.
Greenville County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of waving a fire arm on Cleveland Street Extension around one o'clock in the morning.
Witnesses reported hearing shots fired, but team members say the noise was from tear gas.
When deputies arrived they found a suspect and tried to take him into custody. Deputies say he resisted and barricaded himself inside his house.
The SWAT team was called and sprayed tear gas into the residence.
The man then surrendered without incident.
