The rally seeking South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's resignation at the Statehouse will go without a key Republican Party leader.
Republican National Committee member Glenn McCall said Wednesday he's satisfied that legislators have gotten involved enough in calling for Sanford's resignation that he doesn't' need to push Thursday's rally.
He had called for the rally in an effort to force Sanford to step down after he revealed his affair with woman in Argentina that he later called his "soul mate."
Democrats now are pushing the event.
Democrat activist Marilyn Hemingway of Seneca is leading organization efforts and set up anti-Sanford Facebook sites including "Impeach Mark Sanford" and "Mark Sanford Must Resign!"
