The Greenville County Sheriff's Office say they have charged a mother with unlawful neglect after finding 72 dogs and animal feces inside a home.

On July 2, 2009 the Greenville County Sheriff's Office was called by the Greenville County Code Enforcement Division to respond to a home on Perry Road in reference to a home with 72 dogs and puppies inside.

Deputies say after arriving at the home Code Enforcement Officer's told them that their office was called to the location due to complaints of smells coming from the home.

Deputies spoke with the resident Mickey Andrews who is the owner of the animals and learned there was a 13 year old child living in the home.

They say they entered the residence and observed animal feces scattered over the floors and piled in corners.

Animal feces was found throughout the home and covering floors piled two inches high in some rooms.

The Sheriff's Office contacted Greenville County Animal Control, who responded and removed all dogs.

Animal Control cited Mickey Andrews for the dogs being in the home.

The Sheriff's Office also charged Andrews with Unlawful Neglect of a Child due to the unsanitary conditions which presented a potential health hazard for the 13 year old.

The child has been placed into Emergency Protective Custody.

Currently Mickey Andrews is in the Greenville County Detention Center on a $20,000 Bond.
