Michael and Terry Valentine's call led authorities to serial Killer Patrick Burris
CrimeStoppers has decided to give a $30,000 reward to Michael and Terry Valentine for their call that authorities say led finding Patrick Burris.
The Cherokee County Sheriff and the State Law enforcement Division say Burris was the man who killed five people.
Michael and Terry Valentine called police early Monday morning after Burris and two others showed up drunk at the abandoned home in Dallas, NC. The police call came out as a burglary in progress. When police arrived, a shootout began, with one officer being injured and Burris dead.
Blanton says because the Valentines called 911 reporting a burglary, but not the fact the suspect was in the house, they may not be able to receive the full reward amount. Michael Valentine told News Channel 7 Monday that he recognized the Ford Explorer that pulled up at the home from media reports.
The Valentines say they got the call from sheriff at 11 Friday morning. They say they are very surprised and overwhelmed.
They plan to pay off their car and have a memorial built for the victims in Gaffney.
