Westbound Interstate 26 is moving again in Polk county, North Carolina after a tractor-trailer flipped Friday morning.
North Carolina authorities say the accident happened at the 62 mile marker and blocked both lanes of the interstate after the crash.
Emergency dispatchers told News Channel 7 there was entrapment involved with the accident and a medical helicopter was being sent to the scene.
According to the NCHP, the driver was heading up the grade when he ran off the road, and over corrected. He was hauling a load of ocean-going containers. The containers were not properly secured, so they shifted, causing the trailer part of the rig to flip over.
Over 380 feet of guardrail was destroyed. The driver had non-life threatening injuries.
One lane of the interstate was closed for 4 hours, and all lanes were closed for a time while they extracted the driver, flew him off to Spartanburg Regional, and cleaned the interstate.
