Two road rage incidents at the same time just miles apart in Greenville, leave one man injured and the other fearing for his family's safety.
The first incident happened at the intersection of Woods Lake Road and Haywood Road, just before 1pm Monday afternoon.
Ken Duckett says he was running errands with his wife and two small children when a black car began tailing him closely, then passed him in the median. Duckett says his windows were open and the move threw dirt into his children's faces, so he gave the other driver a crude gesture. Duckett then says that driver waited for him at the next light and pointed a gun at him, yelling threats.
"He was actually shaking it like he was firing off rounds as he talked. So, he was very aggitated," Duckett said. "Knowing my family was there and still pointing the gun, that makes it very serious to me."
The second incident of road rage happened the same time, at the intersection of Cleveland Street and South Pleasantburg Drive.
Witnesses say a driver first hit another car, then jumped out and began punching that man in the face, ripping his window from the car and trying to pull him out before police arrived.
50-year-old Jamie Dejesus, of Greenville, was arrested and charged with assault and battery and reckless driving.
Officers say increased traffic combined with warm weather have road rage cases on the rise.
If some one is following you closely, pull over and let them pass. Always keep your cool behind the wheel and don't make gestures or "get even" with another driver by hitting the breaks or speeding up.
If you feel you're in danger, keep driving, get away from that vehicle and call police.
