The Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has filed charges against two men after a violent confrontation Tuesday evening.

Vincent Ponds, 44, has been charged with assault and battery with intent to kill. Richard Shannon, 36, is charged with assault with intent to kill. Both men are still in jail Wednesday morning on $15,000 bond each.

Deputies say they were called to a report of shots fired at 7:10pm on Hilltop Lane. Ponds and Shannon had been involved in an argument that turned into a fight according to investigators.

Shannon left the scene in a vehicle and returned with a handgun according to SCSO Public Information Officer Tony Ivey. Shannon began shooting at Ponds according to deputies, then chased him on foot until Ponds got into a pickup truck.

Ponds struck Shannon with the truck according to Ivey and also hit a parked car plus a chain link fence in front of a home. Ponds has an additional charge of malicious damage to property because of the fence.

Deputies say they found Ponds waiting for them in front of his residence on Hilltop Lane and Shannon behind his home on the same street.

Shannon was treated and released from Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
