Atlanta-based Carbon Motors announced Wednesday there are three finalists for a location for a plant and South Carolina remains on the list.
The company claims the facility will result in 1,500 jobs at the plant with up to 10,000 jobs created through supplier business.
A facility will be built in the Upstate, Georgia or Connersville, Indiana. Carbon Motors says their decision should be announced this summer and may be final by the end of July.
The company designs a futuristic cruiser for law enforcement that has high-tech weapons detectors.
Carbon Motors says the plant would create a $3 billion positive economic impact on the selected region over the next ten years.
Five states - including North Carolina - were under consideration for the Carbon Motors plant when News Channel 7 broke the story earlier this year.
Carbon Motors says their representatives met with Congressmen Gresham Barrett (R-SC), John Spratt (D-SC), Bob Inglis (R-SC) as well as House Majority Jim Clyburn (D-SC) and both U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Jim DeMint (R-SC) in May about the potential plant for the state.
